A tsumami zaiku hair clip, made of artificial silk (rayon). The motif is multiseasonal, though in general is resembles ume, a spring flower.
Chirimen is a traditional Japanese fabric, either silk or rayon, often called crape in English.
Chirimen is made by keeping the weft thread tighter than the warp thread during the weaving process. That gives the fabric a unique feature of soft wrinkles and a pleasant texture.
The soft feel and texture of the fabric along with its traditional designs made it very popular in Japan.
The kanzashi is suitable both for everyday wear and kimono.
