Kisetsubana means seasonal flowers. Every month maiko, geisha apprentices wear different kanzashi associated with that particular month. These are traditional plants that bloom during a given period, sometimes animals or objects associated with festivals (like dragonflies and fans in July). For each month it is customary to have two or three designs and motifs.
