Uchiwa fans are the non-folding, summer cousins of the famous folding fan. Whimsical and playful, they are a must-have accessory for summer yukata. They are decorated with summer motifs, such as goldfish, fireworks and dragonflies, summer flower and fireworks.
Maiko choose these whimsical kanzashi for the month of July, while the Gion festival is in full. Sparking cords, iridescent organza and puffy chirimen make a perfect combination to wear with both kimono and yukata.
Each fan is approx. 6 cm big, with a cardstock handle and cord backing standing for a burst of fireworks.
Set on a metal 70mm hairpin.
~About my kanzashi~
Each kanzashi is made out of hand-folded petals, which are made from individual squares of high-quality fabrics. As with all items you see online, please be aware that due to your monitor settings colours may be displayed slightly differently and the difference is not a basis for complaint or exchange.
Kanzashi should be kept it out of sunlight and dust, preferably in a jewellery box (if you own more than one kanzashi it's good to add a lavender sachet to the box). I do my best to make Wisteria Garden's kanzashi durable, but as with any delicate material, care should be taken when handling and storing your piece.
